Luba Yammine, PhD is an Associate Professor at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston), where she serves as both a research scientist and clinician specializing in substance use disorders.
Dr. Yammine's research primarily focuses on tobacco cessation and mitigation of post-cessation weight gain. She currently leads a NIH/NIDA funded multi-site clinical trial evaluating exenatide extended release as a treatment for smoking cessation and weight management. Her clinical work takes place at the Innovations Clinic, an outpatient psychiatry clinic where she provides medication-assisted treatment for tobacco, alcohol, and opioid use disorders.
Her educational background includes undergraduate nursing studies at Texas Woman's University, followed by Master's and Doctoral studies at UTHealth Houston, and postdoctoral training in addiction research at Baylor College of Medicine/Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center.
Dr. Yammine serves as co-director of a program focused on providing substance use services to adolescents, sponsored by the Texas Child Mental Health Consortium.
