Michael Shaughnessy Jr.

Michael Shaughnessy Jr. is a faculty member at Northeastern State University's College of Natural Sciences, specializing in community and population ecology of small mammals and mesocarnivores, biogeography of vertebrates, and evolution and systematics of Rodentia and Soricomorpha. He serves as Program Advisor for Fish & Wildlife and Biology, and Curator of Mammals at the NSU Vertebrate Museum.

His research explores:

• Ecological interactions in riverine ecosystems (e.g., Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge studies)
• Carnivore distribution patterns in Oklahoma
• Biogeography of shrews and other small mammals

He maintains laboratory facilities in SC 212/213 and is actively engaged in wildlife conservation research.
