Michael Sey

Dr. Michael Sey is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Western University and a cross-appointed faculty member in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. He serves as a Scientist at the Lawson Health Research Institute and the Program of Experimental Medicine, with clinical expertise in advanced therapeutic endoscopy at London Health Sciences Centre. His work bridges clinical practice and research in gastrointestinal diseases.

Dr. Sey's research focuses on gastrointestinal bleeding, advanced endoscopy, and endoscopy quality metrics. He has led multi-center randomized controlled trials, prospective cohort studies, and systematic reviews in gastroenterology, with particular emphasis on Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and colonoscopy quality assurance. His recent publications address innovations in capsule endoscopy, bowel preparation efficacy, and biologic therapy outcomes for inflammatory bowel disease.

His clinical expertise includes double balloon enteroscopy, capsule endoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound, and endoscopic mucosal resection. As Regional Endoscopy Lead for Cancer Care Ontario-Southwest, he drives quality improvement initiatives in gastrointestinal diagnostics and treatment.
