Michael Schedelik is a Research Fellow at the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social Sciences, Goethe University Frankfurt. He works at the Research Area for International Relations and International Political Economy and is an associated member of the DFG Research Training Group 'Standards of Governance'. His research and teaching have been funded by the German Federal Agency for Civic Education, German Academic Exchange Service, German Research Foundation, and several foundations.

Dr. Schedelik's research focuses on International and Comparative Political Economy with emphasis on emerging economies, particularly Brazil and India. His work examines growth models, dependency relations, commodity economies, and state capitalism in the Global South. He investigates how industrial policies, innovation strategies, and financial systems shape development trajectories in emerging markets. His teaching covers International Political Economy, Financial Markets, Political Economy of Education, and Development.
His recent publications reveal a strong focus on comparative analysis of growth models in emerging economies, with particular attention to Brazil and India. He integrates dependency theory with contemporary political economy frameworks to analyze how commodity economies navigate global markets. His work increasingly examines the political dimensions of education and civic identity in the context of rising populism and educational inequality.

Dr. Schedelik has supervised numerous theses and developed innovative teaching materials, including simulation games for political education. He has coordinated the GRADE Center Education at Goethe University (2020-2022) and was a guest researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Social Research in 2024.
