Andreas Folkers is a Distinguished Fellow at the Max Weber Centre for Advanced Cultural and Social Studies (University of Erfurt) and a member of the research council at the Institute for Social Research, Frankfurt. His work bridges Science and Technology Studies (STS) with critical theory, focusing on fossil modernity, climate capitalism, biopolitics, and infrastructural resilience. Folkers holds a PhD from Goethe University Frankfurt (2017) and previously served as a visiting scholar at the New School (2013) and London School of Economics (2022). His current research includes a book project on 'Fossil Modernity,' examining the entanglement of fossil fuels with socio-political systems, and a new project on Negative Emission Technologies at Columbia University (2025).
