Michael Salvo is a Professor in the Department of English at Purdue University, where he serves as Director of Professional Writing. His research focuses on professional and technical writing, digital rhetoric, and ethical issues in digital technology, particularly in academic and nonacademic settings. He specializes in teaching technical writing and usability research.

Salvo’s research explores the intersection of digital ethics, information architecture, and community formation. He co-edited Rhetoric and Experience Architecture (Parlor Press, 2018) and authored Writing Postindustrial Place: Technoculture Amid the Cornfields (Routledge, 2017). His work has been published in IEEE Transactions on Professional Communication, Technical Communication Quarterly, and Kairos, where he is a founding member and editorial board member.
Recent publications (2017–2025) emphasize postindustrial infrastructure, human-machine collaboration, and dialogic ethics. Themes include usability in digital environments, ethical AI, and global collaboration in technical communication.
