Alexandra Hidalgo is an Associate Professor and Crow Chair of English at the University of Pittsburgh’s Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences. Her work bridges feminist filmmaking, rhetorical theory, and multimodal storytelling. She holds a PhD from Purdue University (English) and an MFA from Naropa University (Creative Writing).
- Research focuses on love, family archives, documentary filmmaking, and cultural rhetorics.
- Recipient of the Computers and Composition Distinguished Book Award (2018) and Kairos Best Webtext Award (2020).
- Co-founder/editor-in-chief of constellations: a cultural rhetorics publishing space.
Publications span film theory, composition pedagogy, and feminist digital memoir. Her work appears in Kairos, Composition Studies, and Enculturation. She co-edited Pixelating the Self: Digital Feminist Memoirs and produced award-winning documentaries like A Family of Stories and Teta.
