معرفی
Michael Reichert is an Associate Professor in the Department of Integrative Biology at Oklahoma State University, specializing in animal communication and cognition. His research integrates physiology, neuroethology, and evolutionary biology to study how environmental factors influence animal behaviors, particularly in treefrogs, crickets, and grasshoppers. He holds a PhD in Biology from the University of Missouri (2011) and a BS in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2004). Additionally, he completed postdoctoral training at institutions including the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
Reichert's work focuses on acoustic communication in treefrogs, exploring competition, female choice, and the energetic costs of signaling. He also investigates learning abilities in wild songbirds and crickets, with recent projects on grasshopper communication and coloration. He collaborates with organizations like Galactic Polymath Education Studio to develop educational tools, such as SoundLab, for teaching bioacoustics and ecology.
Reichert's research emphasizes trade-offs in biological systems, such as the balance between call duration and frequency in frogs, and the role of environmental factors like habitat and temperature in shaping behavior. His lab's work is supported by grants including NSF funding for broader impacts and outreach initiatives.
