معرفی
Bernard Lohr is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). He holds a BA from Cornell University, an MS from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and a PhD from Duke University. His research focuses on bioacoustics, auditory sensory ecology, and animal communication, particularly studying songbirds, hummingbirds, and woodpeckers. He investigates how animals encode and perceive signals, adapt to habitat noise, and the evolutionary drivers of communication systems. Teaching includes courses like Animal Behavior, Comparative Animal Physiology, and research seminars. His work contributes to avian conservation, such as studies on the Florida Grasshopper Sparrow and habitat dynamics. Recent studies highlight vocal learning, sex-specific signaling in orioles, and the impact of anthropogenic noise. He collaborates on projects involving auditory mechanisms, song function, and ecological adaptation.
