Michael Rea is the Rev. John A. O'Brien Professor of Philosophy at the University of Notre Dame, where he has taught since 2001. He serves as Concurrent Faculty in the Gender Studies Program and Director of the Center for Philosophy of Religion. He is also Honorary Professor at the School of Divinity, University of St. Andrews.

His research focuses on metaphysics, philosophy of religion, analytic theology, and feminist philosophy, with over fifteen books and fifty articles published. His work examines divine attributes, gender as theological concept, narrative selfhood, and medieval mysticism.
Analyses of his recent publications reveal consistent themes in analytic theology, metaphysical explorations of identity, and feminist philosophical frameworks applied to religious concepts, with increasing attention to historical theological figures.
