Michael R. Burcham

Michael R. Burcham is a Professor of the Practice of Management at Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management and Faculty Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship. He also serves as Chief of Strategy and Talent Development for Shore Capital Partners, overseeing strategic planning and talent development across 42 corporations. With over 30 years of experience, he has led healthcare organizations, advised startups, and driven successful exits for PE-backed firms. His expertise spans healthcare strategy, entrepreneurship, and leadership development.

Education: DHA from the Medical University of South Carolina (2003), MBA from Belmont University (1989), and BS in Physical Therapy from the University of Mississippi (1983). He has been named Nashvillian of the Year (2014), Tennessean of the Year (2015), and a White House Champion of Change (2012). Michael chairs the Nashville Healthcare Council’s Fellows program and has authored frameworks for venture launching, such as Launching the Venture.

His leadership roles include founding the Nashville Entrepreneur Center, which has launched 42 companies and raised $15M in seed funding. He teaches MBA courses on health innovation and venture launching and serves on multiple corporate boards in healthcare and education.
