Michael Proulx is an Associate Professor of History at the University of North Georgia. He specializes in Roman history, focusing on the emergence of new forms of authority in the late Roman Empire, early Christianity, and peace history. He earned his Ph.D. in Ancient History from the University of California, Santa Barbara (2007). His teaching spans courses on ancient Greece, Rome, medieval Europe, and historiography, including seminars on pre-modern Mediterranean violence and pagans vs. Christians.
Dr. Proulx's research explores the Roman Empire, early Christian institutions, and peace studies. His publications address topics like European peace movements, medieval governance, and cultural identity in antiquity. He is a member of the North American Patristics Society and the American Historical Association, serving as Faculty Adviser for Phi Alpha Theta. His work bridges classical historiography with modern pedagogical approaches to peace history.
