Michael Petriello is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Health Sciences and Pharmacology at Wayne State University School of Medicine. His research investigates mechanisms linking environmental pollutants to metabolic disorders using human studies and mouse models. Current projects examine PFAS effects on reproductive health, neuroinflammation in opioid use disorder, and air pollution impacts on adolescent mental health. He maintains an active NIH grant (K99R00ES028734) and directs the Petriello Laboratory focused on nutrition-toxicology interactions.
Recent publications demonstrate extensive work on environmental contaminants including PFAS, PCBs, and air pollutants, examining their effects across diverse physiological systems through advanced omics approaches. Research emphasizes epigenetic modifications, inflammatory pathways, and transgenerational health impacts.
