Michael Passaportis is an Assistant Professor in Sport and Exercise Psychology at the School of Psychology, University of Sussex. His research focuses on thriving within elite sport organizations, emphasizing the interplay between performance and well-being. He employs qualitative methodologies like ethnography and participatory action research to collaboratively create knowledge with practitioners. His applied work includes consulting athletes across various sports and countries. He holds a PhD from the University of Portsmouth (2018–2022), an MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology (Distinction, 2017–2018), and a BSc in Psychology (Honours, 2013–2017).
His teaching includes modules on Psychology of Exercise and Wellbeing for undergraduates and Applying Psychology in Business and Policy Contexts for postgraduates. He emphasizes inclusive approaches to physical activity and the application of psychology in non-academic settings.
