Erin Prior is a Lecturer in Psychology at the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences, Loughborough University. She holds a BSc in Psychology from Coventry University (2016) and an MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology from Loughborough University (2017). Her research focuses on athlete mental health, staff experiences in elite sport, and disordered eating in youth sports. She completed a part-time PhD (2020) exploring mental health conceptualization in elite sport environments and currently practices as an applied sport psychologist. Erin’s work bridges academic research and practical application, emphasizing trauma-informed practices and policy development in athlete welfare.
Her research groups include Sport Performance and Sport, Business and Society. Notable contributions include editing Navigating Applied Sport and Exercise Psychology (2023), which explores practitioner experiences and challenges in applied settings. Erin’s interdisciplinary approach integrates qualitative methodologies with real-world case studies to address complex issues in high-performance environments.
