Dr. Michael Nower is an Assistant Professor in Economics at Durham University Business School, where he also serves as Programme Director for the Philosophy, Politics and Economics and Economics and Politics Programmes. He holds a PhD in Economics (2019) from Durham University, funded by the ESRC and Bank of England, and has extensive postdoctoral and research experience, including work on UK trade arrangements post-Brexit.

- MSc Economics, Durham University (2014–2015), Best Dissertation Award.
- BA Economics (2:1, Hons), Durham University (2011–2014).
Research Interests: Focus on Applied Macroeconomics, Development Economics, and International Trade, with special attention to Brexit’s economic impacts, labor productivity, and trade policy dynamics. His work explores topics such as trade agreements, non-trading firms’ productivity effects, and policy implications of international trade structures.
