Professor Dennis Novy specializes in international trade and economic history at the University of Warwick. His research quantifies trade costs across centuries, develops gravity model methodologies, and analyzes Brexit's economic impacts, influencing UK policy as a Council of Economic Advisers member (2018-2019).
Current projects examine currency union effects on trade heterogeneity and urban-biased structural change. ESRC grants support work on trade aggregation biases and Brexit consequences, using stock market and inflation data.
Publications include pioneering trade cost indices adopted by UNESCAP and OECD. Recent articles advocate evidence-based post-Brexit trade strategies.
Professor Novy advises the British Chambers of Commerce and supervises doctoral researchers in trade economics. As Impact Director of CAGE, he bridges academic research and policy.
