Ingo Borchert is a Professor of Economics at the University of Sussex Business School and Deputy Director of the UK Trade Policy Observatory (UKTPO). He is also a Theme Leader at the Centre for Inclusive Trade Policy (CITP), focusing on 'People, Firms and Places'. His research expertise spans international trade in services, digital services, cross-border data flows, structural gravity modelling, and trade policy analysis.
Dr. Borchert holds a PhD in Economics and Finance from the University of St.Gallen, Switzerland. He previously served as an Economist at the World Bank (2008–2011) and co-created the globally recognized 'Services Trade Policy Database' (jointly published by the World Bank and WTO) and the 'International Trade and Production Database'. These databases underpin his empirical work on trade costs, services liberalization, and policy design.
