معرفی
Michael Nitabach is a Professor of Cellular and Molecular Physiology, Genetics, and Neuroscience at Yale University's School of Medicine. He holds primary appointments in Cellular & Molecular Physiology and secondary roles in Genetics and Neuroscience. His research focuses on neural circuitry underlying behavior, decision-making, and circadian rhythms using Drosophila and C. elegans models. Nitabach earned a JD from New York University (1998) and a PhD in Biochemistry from Columbia University (1995).
- Education: PhD, Columbia University; JD, New York University
- Affiliations: Kavli Institute for Neuroscience, MD-PhD Program, Interdepartmental Neuroscience Program
His work explores how neuronal circuits integrate sensory information and neurotransmitter systems to regulate behaviors such as foraging, decision-making, and sleep. Recent studies include identifying neural ensembles governing sensory conflict resolution and mechanisms linking food odors to longevity. Nitabach’s interdisciplinary approach combines genetics, electrophysiology, and optogenetics to dissect complex behaviors.
Labs/Teams: Nitabach Lab focuses on circadian clocks, neurophysiology, and decision-making circuits. Collaborators include leaders in neuroscience and immunology, such as Erol Fikrig and Mario Felix.
