Michael Meltzer

Dr. Michael Meltzer is a Researcher in Microbiology II at the Faculty of Biology, University of Duisburg-Essen. He works in the Group Ehrmann within the Center of Medical Biotechnology (ZMB), focusing on protease biology in Escherichia coli and related systems.

His research spans protease mechanisms, serine proteases, metalloproteases, and protease inhibition, with recent work on Ahp-cyclodepsipeptides as serine protease inhibitors and allosteric regulation of E. coli proteases. Dr. Meltzer is involved in teaching, including courses on scientific writing and presentation, cell biology, and molecular biology at the University of Duisburg-Essen. His collaborations with Markus Kaiser and Michael Ehrmann highlight his integrative approach to protease research.
