Michael McKinney

Michael McKinney is a Professor in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He has held the position since August 1999 and served as Director of the Environmental Studies Major from 2002 to 2022. His academic background includes a PhD in Ecology from Yale University, M.S. degrees from the University of Florida, University of Colorado Boulder, and a B.A. from Rollins College.

His research focuses on urban ecosystems, invasive species, conservation biology, and environmental science.
