Michael Manderino

Michael Manderino is an Associate Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Northern Illinois University’s College of Education. His work bridges digital literacies and disciplinary learning, with a focus on adolescent learners and equitable educational practices.

Dr. Manderino's research centers on digital literacies, critical media literacy, and disciplinary learning in secondary education. He explores how digital tools and socially just texts can foster youth agency, rhetorical analysis, and historical argumentation. His work promotes inclusive pedagogies that empower students across content areas.

His recent publications reflect a strong trend in interdisciplinary literacy, emphasizing coaching models, digital mentor texts, and multimodal learning.
