Michael Lee

Michael Lee is an Associate Professor in the Department of Informatics at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), affiliated with the Ying Wu College of Computing. Holding a PhD and MS in Information Science from the University of Washington, an MIMS from UC Berkeley, and a BS in Cognitive Science from UC San Diego, he specializes in computing education, human-computer interaction, and immersive technologies for learning.

His research focuses on:

• Enhancing programming education through game-based learning
• Designing virtual/augmented reality interfaces for STEM concepts
• Developing adaptive educational technologies
• Promoting diversity in computing through mentorship programs

Recent publications highlight applications of VR/AR in education, programming pedagogy, and learner autonomy. His work has been recognized with multiple Best Paper Awards at IEEE ISEC, HICSS, and ACM conferences. He received the Dr. Joel & Diane Bloom Honors Faculty Fellow designation for STEM leadership in 2019.
