Michael Latzer is an Associate Professor in the Philosophy/Theology Department at Gannon University's College of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences. He began his career at Gannon in 1996 and specializes in Christian philosophy, including natural theology, theodicy, and the works of Leibniz, George Berkeley, and C.S. Lewis. His current research explores Berkeley's theory of religious language and his influence on C.S. Lewis's natural theology.
Latzer's research interests center on philosophical examinations of evil, religious epistemology, and historical philosophical traditions. He teaches courses spanning Philosophy & Human Nature, Ethics, Philosophy of Science, and Logic.
He holds a B.A. from McMaster University (1985), an M.A. from the University of Ottawa (1987), and a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto (1993). As scholar-in-residence at Whitehall Museum House (2017-2019), he furthered Berkeley studies. He actively presents at conferences including the American Philosophical Association and Undiscovered C.S. Lewis Conference.
