Michael Kiernan

Michael Kiernan is an Adjunct Professor at Charles Sturt University's School of Psychology. He coordinates postgraduate clinical and forensic psychology programs, including the Master of Psychology, Doctor of Clinical Psychology, and Doctor of Forensic Psychology. His teaching focuses on adult mental health, neuropsychology, and clinical practice.

Research interests center on associative learning mechanisms, neural systems of perception, ADHD neurobiology, and sleep's impact on child cognition. He collaborates with Sydney Children’s Hospital on pediatric sleep studies and examines clinician beliefs about psychological disorders.

Recent work explores prospective memory assessment, mindfulness in brain injury recovery, and questionnaire validation for cognitive impairments. Grants include ARC-funded studies on olfactory perception and ADHD neurochemistry.

Collaborations involve Professors Boakes, Westbrook, and Tyson. He holds memberships in the Australian Association of Cognitive Behaviour Therapists and Society for Neuroscience.
