Michael D. Kennedy is a Professor of Sociology and International and Public Affairs at Brown University, affiliated with the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina (1985) and has extensive leadership experience, including serving as the Howard R. Swearer Director of the Watson Institute (2009–2011) and Vice Provost for International Affairs at the University of Michigan (1999–2004). His research focuses on global sociological transformations, social movements, cultural politics, and the role of universities in a globalized world.
