J. Brian Atwood is a Senior Fellow at Brown University’s Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs and a member of its Board of Governors. He previously served as Administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) under President Clinton, Dean of the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs, and Assistant Secretary of State for Congressional Relations under President Carter. His research focuses on international development, US foreign policy, conflict resolution, and global inequality. He has held leadership roles in institutions like the National Democratic Institute and served on the UN Secretary-General’s Panel on Peace Operations.
