Dawn Brancati is a Senior Lecturer in International and Public Affairs at Brown University’s Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs. Her research focuses on peacebuilding, democratic tools for conflict resolution, and the interplay between decentralization, elections, and violence. She earned her Ph.D., M.Phil., and MA from Columbia University and a BA from Cornell University.

- Decentralization’s role in mitigating ethnic conflict and secessionism

Her work has been supported by prestigious grants from the National Science Foundation, German Marshall Fund, and Harvard/Yale/Princeton Universities. She advises governmental and non-governmental institutions, including the CIA, USAID, and World Bank.
