Michael Jewell is an Associate Research Scientist in the Department of Physics at Yale University, working in the WLC 254C laboratory. His research focuses on experimental astrophysics and quantum science, particularly in the HAYSTAC experiment, which searches for dark matter axions above 20 µeV using microwave cavities. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics (2020) from Stanford University under the advisement of Reina Maruyama.
- Education: Ph.D. Physics, Stanford University (2020)
His research interests span astrophysics, cosmology, and quantum sensing technologies, with a focus on experimental methods to detect axion dark matter. He is affiliated with Yale’s Physics Department and contributes to collaborative projects in high-energy physics.
Michael is also noted for his background growing up near Philadelphia and his enthusiasm for Philadelphia sports teams.
