Dr Michael Holland
Dr Michael B. Holland is an Emeritus Lecturer in French at the University of Oxford and a Fellow of St Hugh's College. His research focuses on Maurice Blanchot, French literature and thought from 1848, and avant-garde theatre since the late 19th century. He has extensively translated and analyzed Blanchot’s works, including his wartime chronicles and philosophical essays. His teaching emphasizes French language and literature in the 19th and 20th centuries. Dr Holland’s work bridges literature, philosophy, and politics, with notable contributions to Blanchot’s engagement with violence, language, and existential themes.
