Dr. Damian Catani is a Senior Lecturer at Birkbeck, University of London, within the School of Creative Arts, Culture and Communication, and previously served as Assistant Dean of the Department of Languages, Cultures and Applied Linguistics (2022-23). He has taught at Birkbeck since 2007, with prior roles at Oxford, Cambridge, and Nanterre (Paris X). His research focuses on 19th- and 20th-century French literature, particularly Mallarmé, Baudelaire, and Louis-Ferdinand Céline, emphasizing ethical dimensions in literature.
