Michael Hilke is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at McGill University, leading the Quantum Nano Electronics Laboratory (QNEL). He has held director roles in major research institutes including INTRIQ, RQMP, and CIQ2. His research focuses on quantum materials, nanoelectronics, and superconductivity, with notable contributions in graphene physics and Anderson localization. He has advised numerous graduate students and postdocs, and his work has been recognized with the FCAR Professor Award (2001).
- Education: PhD in Physics from University of Geneva (1996), Postdoc at Princeton University (1996–2000)
- Lab Infrastructure: Ultra-low temperature systems, high-frequency measurement setups, CVD graphene growth facilities, and nanofabrication tools
Research Themes: QNEL explores quantum transport in 2D materials, topological phases, and nanoelectronic devices. Key projects include graphene isotope superlattices, vortex dynamics in superconductors, and quantum Hall breakdown phenomena.
Publications: Over 100 peer-reviewed articles, with recent highlights in topological materials, quantum thermometry, and graphene strain engineering. His work bridges experimental condensed matter physics with device applications.
