Michael Harmon

Michael Harmon, Ph.D., is a Researcher in the Department of Educational Policy Studies at Georgia State University's College of Education & Human Development. He holds a Ph.D. in Education Organization and Leadership from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1996), an M.S.Ed. in Vocational Education from Virginia Tech (1984), and a B.S.Ed. in Industrial Arts Education from Virginia Tech (1977).

Research & Professional Experience: Since 1990, Harmon has focused on education research, evaluation, and large-scale assessment. He has led large-scale evaluations as a Principal Investigator, presented at conferences globally, and contributed to publications. He served as President of the Georgia Education Research Association and taught education research courses at the University of Georgia. Additionally, he has reviewed state assessment systems for the U.S. Department of Education since 1999.

Community & Nonprofit Work: Harmon founded Radical Disciples, Inc., which supports education, employment, and community service initiatives. He also teaches anger management courses at Rockdale County Jail as part of the Residential Substance Abuse Treatment program. His research interests include transitional housing, incarcerated adult education, and policy evaluation.
