Michael Glass

Michael Glass is an Assistant Professor in the History Department at Boston College, also serving as Director of the Honors Program. His research focuses on twentieth-century U.S. political and urban history, with an emphasis on race, capitalism, and inequality. He holds a Ph.D. from Princeton University, preceded by degrees from the University of Chicago, City College of CUNY, and Hunter College.

• Suburban inequality and debt structures in Long Island
• Historical analysis of FHA rental housing and segregation

His forthcoming book Cracked Foundations explores how mortgage and bond systems entrenched racial/class disparities in suburban areas. A digital project, Building Inequality, maps government-insured apartments and their segregation effects.

Awards include the National Academy of Education/Spencer Dissertation Fellowship and Woodrow Wilson Scholars Fellowship. Prior to academia, he taught in New York City public high schools.
