Dr. Michael Giesen is a postdoctoral researcher at the Chair of International Relations, University of Potsdam, within the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences. His work focuses on international organizations, human rights, and environmental politics, with a specialization in organizational theory and parliamentary institutions.

His research explores the emergence, design, and effects of international organizations, particularly in global human rights and environmental governance. His methodological expertise spans mixed methods, quantitative analysis, and qualitative discourse analysis.
Recent publications highlight organizational autonomy in international committees, legislative networks, and policy diffusion frameworks. He collaborates with Thomas Gehring and Thomas Rixen on agency dynamics in environmental politics.
