Dr. Michael Gallagher is a Senior Lecturer in Digital Education at the University of Edinburgh and Co-Director of the Centre for Research in Digital Education. His work focuses on critical examinations of educational technologies, mobilities, and marginalized groups in development contexts. He holds a PhD from University College London and MSc degrees from the University of Edinburgh and Drexel University. His research explores how digital education intersects with global challenges like displacement and inequality, emphasizing frameworks that address systemic barriers in education. He leads multiple funded projects, including initiatives on digital inclusion in Sub-Saharan Africa and refugee education in Uganda, funded by organizations like the Mastercard Foundation and Royal Society of Edinburgh. Gallagher is also Chief Digital Education Officer at Panoply Digital and has advised institutions worldwide on edtech and development.
