Professor Michael Friend is a faculty member at Charles Sturt University, serving as Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) and Director of the Graham Centre for Agricultural Innovation. He has extensive international research experience in animal nutrition and sustainable agricultural systems.

Research Interests: Michael's work focuses on optimizing livestock systems through perennial pastures, feed efficiency, and participatory action research. His studies on sheep production and grazing strategies address critical challenges in sustainable agriculture.
Recent Publications: Recent studies (2024–2025) examine sheep/livestock grazing systems, ruminal nutrition, and pasture impacts on lamb survival. His work spans Agricultural Systems, Livestock Science, and Animal Production Science.
Leadership & Achievements: He led the Future Farm Industries CRC New Livestock Systems Program (2010–2014), overseeing award-winning projects like ‘Enrich’ and ‘EverGraze’. As Graham Centre Director, he drove strategic growth and record external funding.
Education & Teaching: Holds a PhD in Animal Nutrition from the University of New South Wales. Taught animal science subjects at Charles Sturt University and the University of Tasmania for over 20 years.
