Prof. Dr. Michael Fricke holds the Chair of Protestant Theology/Religious Education and Didactics at the University of Regensburg, appointed since 2009. Previously, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, Arts, History, and Social Sciences (2013–2017 and 2017–2021). His academic journey includes a doctorate in Old Testament Studies (1997, Marburg) and habilitation in Religious Education (2004, Bamberg). He has held acting professorships at Otto-Friedrich University of Bamberg and Justus Liebig University of Giessen.
His research focuses on religious pedagogy, biblical didactics, empirical studies in religious education, and the integration of digital tools in teaching (e.g., FALKO-R project). He leads initiatives like 'Diakonisches Lernen' promoting social pedagogy in schools and co-authored key textbooks such as the 'Herausforderungen' series. His work bridges theology, education, and societal engagement, emphasizing practical and experiential learning.
