Dr. habil. Stefan Scholz is a Lecturer in Protestant Theology at the University of Regensburg and a Research Associate for Protestant Theology there. He has held academic roles at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg and the Evangelical University of Nuremberg since 2023. Previously, he served as a Pastor in school service at the State Vocational School Erlangen (2012–2023), a Visiting Scientist at FAU, and an Assistant for Protestant Theology in interdisciplinary programs. His academic journey includes a Doctorate in New Testament Studies (2006, summa cum laude) and a Habilitation in Protestant Religious Education (2011).
Education: Studied Protestant Theology at Neuendettelsau, Leipzig, Heidelberg, and Erlangen. Notable early experiences include an internship in Brazil (1994–1995) and Vicariate in Erlangen-St. Matthäus Parish (2000–2003). His doctoral work critically analyzed New Testament hermeneutics of prominent scholars, while his habilitation focused on Bible didactics in the digital age.
Research interests span Biblical hermeneutics, postcolonial religious education, digital theology, and vocational pedagogy. He actively contributes to projects like postcolonial schoolbook analysis and digital literacy in religious education. Key roles include membership in the EKD’s Bible Hermeneutics Workstream and leadership in projects addressing social justice and intercultural education.
Publications include monographs such as Bible Didactics in the Age of New Media (2012) and over 50 peer-reviewed articles. His work bridges theology, pedagogy, and digital culture, emphasizing critical engagement with biblical texts in contemporary contexts.
