Michael Flynn is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at Kansas State University and Associate Director of the Security Studies graduate program. He earned his Ph.D. in Political Science from Binghamton University in 2013, alongside B.A. degrees in Politics and History from Potsdam College (SUNY) in 2006.
- Research Focus: His work examines the political economy of states' foreign policy behavior, particularly the social, economic, and political effects of U.S. military deployments. He co-leads a multi-agency funded project (Grant: W911NF-18-1-0087) under the DoD's Minerva Research Initiative, Army Research Laboratory, and Army Research Office.
- Publications: Peer-reviewed articles appear in American Political Science Review, British Journal of Political Science, International Studies Quarterly, and media commentary in outlets like The Economist, Al Jazeera, and Newsweek.
- Teaching: Courses include U.S. Foreign Policy, Domestic Politics, International Security, and Research Methodology.
