Dr. Michael Dietz is a Water Resources Extension Educator and Director of the Connecticut Institute of Water Resources at the University of Connecticut. He holds a PhD and MS in Natural Resources Management and Engineering from UConn, as well as a BS in Psychology from the same institution. His academic career includes progressive roles in the CT NEMO Program (2010–Present) and prior positions at Utah State University.

Recent research explores chloride transport dynamics and sustainable drainage systems.
His publications highlight trends in LID applications, stormwater modeling (e.g., SWMM), and pollution reduction technologies. He has secured significant grants from the USDA, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, and Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection for projects on water security and infrastructure certification programs.
