Michael Cremer

Michael Cremer is an Affiliate at the Max Planck Institute for Private Law. He previously served as a Research Assistant under Prof. Dr. Ralf Michaels (2020–2024) and Prof. Dr. Karsten Thorn (2018–2019). He holds a MJur from the University of Oxford (2019–2020) and studied law at Bucerius Law School (2013–2018), with a semester at New York University School of Law.

His research focuses on Civil Law, Private International Law, and Comparative Law, with a PhD funded by the German National Academic Foundation. Key achievements include the Hans Soldan Prize (2017) for winning the Soldan Moot Court and scholarships from prestigious institutions.

Cremer has also worked as a legal advisor at Bucerius Law School’s Law Clinic and as a student assistant under Prof. Dr. Birgit Weitemeyer. His current affiliation emphasizes continued engagement in legal scholarship and research.
