Michael Carlson

Michael Carlson is a Senior Lecturer in Statistics at Stockholm University since 2006. He currently serves as Head of the Department of Statistics (since 2020) and has previously taken a leave of absence to work at Statistics Sweden from 2006 to 2012.

Education:

• Doctoral Degree in Statistics from Stockholm University (2003).

His core research expertise lies in statistical disclosure control, confidentiality, and methodological frameworks for survey theory and practice. He also focuses on production standards for official statistics, emphasizing data integrity and ethical compliance.

At Stockholm University, he co-supervises PhD student Hyllienmark (with Edgar Bueno Castellanos and Dan Hedlin as primary/major co-supervisors) and teaches courses in Statistics and Data Analysis II, Part 2 and Survey Methodology.
