Michael Calegari is an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting at Santa Clara University's Leavey School of Business. He serves as Executive Director of the Center for Accounting Research and Education (CARE) and Chair of the SCU Faculty Affairs Committee (FAC).
- Education: B.S.B.A. (University of San Francisco), M.S. in Taxation (Golden Gate University), Ph.D. (University of Arizona)
Research Interests: Dr. Calegari specializes in financial statement analysis and taxation. His work explores tax accounting rules, capital structure, discretionary accruals, and pedagogical innovations in tax education.
Publications: His research spans experimental accounting studies, tax planning frameworks, and educational methodologies, with a focus on practical applications in corporate finance and taxation.
Scientific Awards:
- 2019 ACE Leadership Program Outstanding Faculty Award
- 2016 & 2015 SCU Accounting Association Professor of the Year
- 2004 Deloitte Teaching Innovation Award
Additional Roles: Former Chair of the Accounting Department (2003–2008) and Professor-in-Residence at KPMG (2011). Taught in the CAAP Program from 2002 to 2016.
