Don J. Rath is a Lecturer in the Department of Accounting at the Leavey School of Business, Santa Clara University, joining in Spring 2024. He teaches undergraduate courses in Financial Accounting (ACTG 11), Managerial Accounting (ACTG 12), and Tax Planning and Business Decisions (ACTG 138), leveraging over 35 years of professional experience in taxation and finance.

- M.B.A. from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley
- M.S. in Taxation from Golden Gate University
- M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Queens University of Charlotte
Rath’s expertise centers on corporate taxation, international tax planning, mergers and acquisitions, and accounting for income taxes (ASC 740). He has held executive roles including Chief Tax Officer at four public companies in life sciences and software, Chief Audit Executive, interim Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Accounting Officer. Additionally, he teaches in the Graduate Taxation Program at Golden Gate University and contributes to nonprofit initiatives as a board member for a Bay Area organization focused on foster families and youth. Rath is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in California.
