Michael Burri is a Senior Lecturer in the TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) program at the University of Wollongong's School of Education. He holds a PhD from the University of Wollongong (2016) and an MA in TESOL from Trinity Western University (2008). His research focuses on language teacher education, pronunciation instruction, and neuroeducational approaches, with notable contributions to understanding teacher cognition and professional development. Dr. Burri has conducted research in Australia, Japan, and Canada, emphasizing ethical AI use in language teaching and innovative pronunciation pedagogy.

His work explores longitudinal teacher development trajectories and the integration of neuroscience into language education. Dr. Burri supervises PhD candidates in areas such as language assessment literacy, translanguaging pedagogies, and Japanese teachers' communicative practices. His service roles include Associate Academic Program Director for TESOL and active membership in organizations like the English Language Testing Society.
