معرفی
Dr. Michael Brown is Paul J. Thomas Professor of Molecular Genetics and Director of the Jonsson Center for Molecular Genetics at UT Southwestern. His Nobel Prize-winning work with Dr. Joseph Goldstein identified the LDL receptor and established the mechanism of receptor-mediated endocytosis.
Research focuses on:
- Cholesterol homeostasis regulation
- SREBP transcription factors
- LDL receptor pathway mechanisms
- Lipoprotein metabolism disorders
Publications examine cholesterol feedback systems, lysosomal transport mechanisms, and metabolic regulation pathways. Recent work investigates Scap protein's role in sterol sensing and triazole inhibitors for cholesterol export.
Honors include:
- Nobel Prize in Medicine (1985)
- U.S. National Medal of Science (1988)
- Albert Lasker Award (1985)
