Michael Braun is an Acting Professor at the Institute of Musicology, Philipps University of Marburg (2024/25–2025) and a long-standing Research Assistant at the University of Regensburg since 2015. He holds a Privatdozent title (2022) and completed his habilitation in 2022 with a thesis on Giovanni Battista Sammartini's symphonic works. His academic career includes teaching roles since 2011 and leadership in research projects like Naturalizing Sounds: How Instrumental Music Is Made National (2025).

Knowledge Transfer includes concert program notes, documentaries on Kepler's music, and collaborations with festivals like "Tage Alter Musik." His habilitation thesis and edited volumes (e.g., Naturalizing Sounds) reflect his focus on national narratives in music history.
