Dr. Jessica Bissett Perea is an Associate Professor in the Department of American Indian Studies at the University of Washington, College of Arts & Sciences. Her work centers Indigenous-led research in musicology, Indigeneity, and decolonial methodologies. She co-directs the 'Radical and Relational Approaches to Food Fermentation and Food Security' project with international collaborators from Greenland and Malaysia. Her book Sound Relations (Oxford UP, 2021) explores Inuit musical histories and their intersections with colonialism.

She advises projects on Indigenous food sovereignty and collaborates with institutions like the Indigenous Wellness Research Institute and wǝɫǝbʔaltxʷ Intellectual House. Current initiatives include an Asia-Pacific Indigenous Studies seminar with Universiti Malaya.
