Michael Borgolte is a Full Professor for Medieval History at the Humboldt University of Berlin (since 1991) and director of the Institute for the Comparative History of Europe in the Middle Ages (since 1998). His work bridges transcultural comparisons of medieval societies, focusing on foundations, migrations, and historiography. He has held leadership roles such as Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy (2006-2008) and Spokesman of the DFG Priority Programme 1173 (2005-2011).
